TOMEU VENTANYOL "Recent works"
Opening: March 16th at 7.30 p.m.
Exhibition dates: March 16th – May 13th 2017
ÀMBIT Galeria d’Art hosts the third solo exhibition of works by Mallorcan artist Tomeu Ventayol, where he continues his research on geometric subjects and organic elements while preserving formal essentiality, a constant element in his work.
Ventayol deepens his language and persists in his geometrical abstraction with subtle figurative references. Extremely stylized organic elements and bright colours create imaginary landscapes: simple ideas of forests, lands and roofs.
Based on the observation of nature and his homeland landscape, Ventayol is able to generate minimalist abstractions of nature that impress the viewer for their simplicity and immediacy. Aluminium canvases are an ideal support for the artist, as they emphasise the artist’s contact and coherence with his work as a craftsman and reaffirm his nature as a sculptor and painter.
TOMEU VENTAYOL (Alcúdia, Majorca, 1945). Bachelor in Fine Arts by the University of Barcelona with a 30 year-long artistic career as a painter and sculptor. He has taken part in many solo and collective exhibitions both at national and international level and his work is present in important private and public collections as well as in public spaces.
