Miquel Vilá (Barcelona, 1940)
Miquel Vilà (Barcelona, 1940) studied at the School of Fine Arts of Sant Jordi and the Conservatory of the Arts of the Book, both in Barcelona.
The urban landscape is one of the subjects that concerns Vilà, who explores desolate living, as his work is accompanied by bright still lifes that contrast with twilight landscapes evoking absence.
His work is in the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Madrid, the Seville Museum of Contemporary Art, and in the Museum of Sofia, Bulgaria. He is also represented in the collections of the Fundació d'Art Banc de Sabadell, Sabadell, the Fundació ‘la Caixa", Barcelona, the National Library of Catalonia and and the Madrid National Library Foundation. He lives and works in Barcelona and Menorca.
