Jordina Orbañanos (Barcelona, 1960)

Jordina Orbañanos was born in Barcelona in 1960. She studied drawing and painting at the Escola Eina, Barcelona, and later graduated in Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona. In 1996 she received the Kronenbourg prize for her artistic creativity.

Orbañanos is an artist with a unique and personal style, featuring strong, clean lines and a rigorous treatment of colour and composition in every work. The artist gives the pictorial material the effect of relief in each piece, creating a space where composition itself is one of the main motifs.

The nature she represents has an erotic underpinning, and her paintings, without human presence, are quiet places, habitatsof cactus,v ines, flowers, recipients and mountains, all treated through a careful, almost obsessive application of oil on the canvas.

Her work can be found in major collections, such as the Col•lecció Testimoni de la Fundació ‘la Caixa’, Barcelona, the Vila Casas Foundationin Torroella de Montgrí, Girona, and the Fundació d'Art Banc de Sabadell, Sabadell.
