Carme Garolera (Mataró 1955)

Carme Garolera was born in 1955 in Mataró, and has chosen to make her residence in Barcelona. A graduate of the Faculty of Fine Arts in Barcelona, she currently teaches Artistic Drawing and Color at the Pau Gargallo School in Badalona (Barcelona).

Influenced by the Catalan art informel, her artistic language is structured between abstraction and figuration. Garolera has developed an artistic discourse where her floral universe, charged with tones and nuance, conveys the ephemeral character of life and the essence of creation. Her well-structured work of lines and strokesis exquisitely sensitive, as Garolera understands how to express the beauty of nature through colour and shape. Garolera does not copy, instead creating the equivalent of what she feels when she gazes upon her prívate herbarium.

Carme Garolera has shown widely in both solo and group exhibitions, and her work is permanently exhibited at the Musée d'Art Modern et Contemporain in Geneva. It is also found in the Col•lecció Testimoni de la Fundació ‘la Caixa’, the United Nations Art Fund, and the NH HotelesSérie Gold Collection.
