Arturo Guerrero (Madrid, 1960)
Arturo Guerrero was born in Madrid in 1960. He graduated in architecture in his hometown and later chose to devote himself to painting. Since 1993 he has lived and worked as an artist in New York.
Guerrero’s capacity for illusion and transparency has its origin in collages and still lifes that move us closer to his poetically handmade world, with its almost alchemical nature, set out on linen and paper.
Scenes of everyday life, where the artist’s gaze takes in even the slightest gesture, are transformed into something magical and extraordinary, in a work that understands painting as its raison d’etre.
His work can be found in the Col•lecció Testimoni de la Fundació ‘la Caixa’, the Argentaria Foundation Collection, Madrid, the Collection of the Spanish Congress, Madrid, the Swiss Union Bank Collection, Madrid, and the Violy Byorum & Partners Holdings LLC Collection, New York.
